FULL CHARACTERISATIONS OF HARD AND SOFT MAGNETIC MATERIALS

Full characterisation of a vast range of hard and soft magnetic materials, from room temperature to high temperature. In soft ferromagnetic material, we can observe all the magnetic properties even on finished samples, such as rotating machine stators or the coercive force of samples even in unusual forms.

MAGNETIC CHARACTERISATION

Of the “as-a-service” solutions that we suggest, that of the characterisation and measurement of soft ferromagnetic materials (BH curves, hysterisis, loss measurements) is the most flexible.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CHARACTERISE THE SOFT FERROMAGNETIC MATERIAL?

  • In order to design one’s own device with the calculator: whether for finite element programs or concentrated parameters, it is essential to have the first magnetisation curve
  • For information regarding magnetic losses (hysterisis and eddy currents), as well as Joules losses
  • To control the quality of the supply of material to be used.
  • To maximise one’s own device in order to obtain fewer losses, less bulk and greater performance.

WHAT WE CAN MEASURE

Our Magnetic Measurement Laboratory is fitted with specific instruments for the complete characterisation in soft frequency of soft ferromagnetic materials such as:

  • Ferrosilcon
  • Ferronickel
  • Ferrocobalt
  • other magnetic steels (C10, C100, Fe360 and similar, 10SPb20, AISI430 …)

It is possible to measure laminates, rings, even directly on stators and electric engine rotors..

COERCIVE FORCE MEASUREMENT

The measurement of the coercive force of a soft ferromagnetic material is very important for two key reasons:

  • firstly, it allows for an immediate identification of the level of quality of the material from a ferromagnetic point of view
  • secondly, it is a characterisation that does not feel the effects of sample form factors and as a result it is possible to obtain information on parts picked up directly from the device.

It is, therefore, possible to measure cylindrical shaped samples or more complex shaped ones, as well as small amounts of material.

SOFT FERROMAGNETICS

We are equipped to achieve a complete characterisation of magnetic materials, both hard and soft at room temperature as well as at a high temperature: for example, we can provide you with details of full behaviour of magnetic laminates , including all lost data or parts of soft ferromagnetic material (Ferrosilcon, various kinds of magnetic steels, steels for solenoid valves such as the AISI430, Ferronickel, Ferrocobalt etc.).

WHAT WE CAN MEASURE

We can also measure samples in their definitive forms, such as pre-assembled rotating machine stators.

Lastly, it is possible to achieve the characterisation of soft ferromagnetic materials in any form using a coercimeter, capable of accurately reading the coercive field of the sample and establishing the level of quality of the ferromagnetic material analysed.

ELECTRIC MOTORS

We have the opportunity to characterise your electric engines: measurement of counter-electromotor force, cogging, couple, absorption and efficiency. Tell us what your requirements are and we will be able to provide you with the means for satisfying your request.

PERMANENT MAGNETS

A permanent magnet is a ferromagnetic material with a high level of coercive force to permanently maintain the magnetic properties of the material even under the effect of external magnetic fields.

The permanent magnets can have magnetic, mechanical properties and extremely different thermal behaviour: the right choice goes through a proper, focused characterisation of the material.
